what to cook...

While ferrying my crippled daughter around Bluffton the other day, I stopped by a thrift store whose hand-lettered white board announced, books half price today. Now, who can turn down an offer like that?
Guess what treasure I came home with? A book by none other than Arthur Schwartz himself! Remember him? The other Food Maven?
A bargain at fifty cents, What to Cook (When You Think There's Nothing in the House to Eat,) is an alphabetically arranged gem... filled with information, history and recipes.
This is a guy after my own heart! This book is all about pantry staples and what to do with them. Pantry staples, people... the savior of the weary working wife, friend of the single guy and companion to everyone tired of cooking the same old thing.
I'm working on an exciting post about vinegars that I learned from the real Food Maven. Stay tuned... same Bat time, same Bat channel;)
